The Packaging Act

LEGAL FRAMEWORK CONDITIONS FOR PACKAGING AND PACKAGING WASTE

In addition to ecological reasons and trends, the packaging industry is also anchored in current laws and guidelines, which the company Česká reklamka has incorporated into its processes.

The two most important legal bases are the Packaging Act (VerpackG) and the applicable EU directive. The Packaging Act is the basis of a successful circular economy in the area of sustainable packaging. It officially entered into force on 1 January 2019, replacing the previously valid Packaging Ordinance as a binding legal framework. In the meantime, the German Packaging Act was partially amended, or revised (last time in mid-2021) and from July 2022, in addition, the obligation of registration applies to end sellers of service packaging.

On the other hand, the currently valid EU directive mainly contains measures to prevent the creation of packaging waste and to support the reuse and recycling of packaging waste. These measures are intended to protect human health and resources, guarantee a functioning internal market and thus contribute to a sustainable circular economy in EU member states.
